Design/Build Trail Construction

Design/build means one company handles the layout, the flagging, and the construction. The people who plan the trail are the people who build it. The finished trail matches the plan and stays within budget.

Why Clients Choose Design/Build

When design and construction are handled by separate parties, details get lost between them. A line that looked right on a map may not work on the ground. Builders end up guessing at intent, and each guess can become a delay or a change order.

Design/build avoids that:

The Process

  1. Site walk. We walk the property to read the soils, slopes, water, and natural features.
  2. Corridor flagging. We flag the trail line by hand, setting grade, drainage, and flow before any ground is disturbed.
  3. Machine construction. Machine work cuts the rough tread efficiently and to the flagged line.
  4. Hand finish work. Crew members shape corners, set rock, build drainage structures, and dial in the tread surface.
  5. Field adjustments. Conditions change once the ground is open. Because design and build are the same team, we make the call on site and keep the project moving.

What Is Delivered

Sustainable singletrack built for drainage, grade control, and rideability. Water leaves the trail instead of running down it. Grades stay within what the soil can hold. Corners and features flow for the riders the trail is meant to serve.

Every project combines machine work with hand finish. The machine does the heavy lifting, and the hand work makes the trail ready to ride and built to last.

West Coast and Southwest

Elemental Trailworks is based on the Oregon Coast, and we travel for projects across the West Coast and the Southwest. We work on public and private land, including the Pacific City and Tillamook area. Every design starts with drainage and durability, whatever the terrain.
